The Medlite laser makes it possible for our doctors to perform tattoo removal in our practice. The Medlite laser uses light energy to remove the tattoo ink from the skin. The ink absorbs the light energy and is broken down into small particles that are eliminated from the skin through the body’s filtering system. The energy is focused on the treated area, leaving the surrounding areas untouched.
The number of treatments needed for full tattoo removal varies from patient to patient. In general, an average of 4-8 treatments is needed. While most colored inks can be removed or at least significantly faded, more treatments may be necessary to attain good results for those with green or yellow ink tattoos. Patients report little discomfort during the treatment, often comparing it to the snap of a rubber band against the skin.
While the skin heals, the treated area should be kept clean, and we will give you an antibacterial ointment to apply to the area regularly.
